Oceanic Crust

The relatively thin, yet dense crust that forms the ocean basins and floors. The youngest ocean floors are located along mid-ocean ridges while the oldest ocean floors are located near the continental boundaries (next to subduction zones).

Olympic NP beaches rest along the Ring of Fire - an active volcano zone on the oceanic crust.
